You might have heard about ‘Cat Cafes,’ which are places where people can enjoy a drink while petting cats; but a cafe in Tokyo, Japan, is gaining a lot of attention for offering a unique experience to its customers. No felines here, customers can interact with a pair of capybaras.

That’s right, at Cafe Capyba visitors can enjoy a warm drink in the company of two large capybaras named Kohaku and Pisuke. The huge rodents roam freely in the small space, giving customers the chance to see these animals, native to South America, up close.

According to the description on its website, Cafe Capyba is a “place to provide healing”; visitors are encouraged to pet, observe, and take pictures of the cute and furry creatures. “Take some time to relax while observing their peaceful presence.” Customers can also offer some treats to the little animals, snacks for feeding the capybaras are available inside the cafe.

The idea, which may seem strange to many, has captivated the public who are willing to wait up to four hours and do not hesitate to pay $8.31, or a little more than R$40, just to enter the cafe and enjoy 30 minutes of coexistence with the rodents, for an additional 10 minutes, customers must pay an extra fee.
